Chris Ormsby

I am a motivated junior pursuing a BBA in Business Analytics and Information Systems at the University of Iowa, with strong skills in SQL, Python, R, Excel, and Microsoft Office applications. My Microsoft Business Essentials course enhanced my proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint, providing a solid foundation in data organization and presentation. I am currently expanding my SQL expertise through my Informational Systems course and advancing my R skills as a member of the Sports and Business Analytics (SBA) Club, where I analyze player performance metrics and complete sports statistics projects using R for visualization and insights. In my Statistics for Business class, I applied linear regression and residual plots in PowerPoint to analyze free throw attempts, demonstrating my ability to turn data into actionable insights. Additionally, in a group project, I co-created an imaginary company, Topsheet, contributing to a business model, balance sheet, and marketing strategy while strengthening my teamwork and strategic thinking.

• American Marketing Association, Gained professional development through participation in industry events, networking opportunities, and workshops. Developed key marketing skills and expanded my professional network to support my career growth.
• Sports Analytics Club, Used data visualization within R to look at advanced sports data metrics to uncover trends and look at sports patterns. Completed a research project in AP Psychology where I analyzed NFL CTE trends and identified patterns in player health and injuries. Proposing a project using R and SQL to create predictive models and visualizations focused on career longevity and health outcomes, with the goal of identifying trends that could lead to earlier CTE diagnoses before post-mortem analysis.
