Additional Information

  • I am married and have two children, ages 10 and 12, who are currently students in the Fremont school district. We have a chocolate lab, Angie, who is 3 years old.
  • My hobbies include travel, photography, arts & crafts, psychology, and cooking.
  • I have taught Sunday School classes to 5 and 6 year olds for 7 years, in a bilingual setting: Romanian and English.
  • When completing a types of intelligence survey alongside my 8th grade students, I learned that my dominant type of intelligence is "experiential Intelligence", which is rare compared with other types of intelligence, such as linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, naturalistic, musical, intrapersonal, interpersonal (according to the theory of multiple intelligences). Experiential intelligence is "the combination of mindsets, abilities and know-how gained from your past experiences," (Soren Kaplan, “Experiential Intelligence: Harness the Power of Experience for Personal and Business Breakthroughs"). My students shared with me that this helps me offer them effective support in prioritizing work, reflecting on various situation, think ahead, and work on their moral values.
  • I am a native speaker of Romanian, which is a Latin Language. I learned French in school and taught myself Spanish by watching TV series with closed captions in Romanian - I am able to read and write in Spanish and I can understand about 70% of the Spanish spoken and written language. Due to the fact that I never took Spanish as a class, my conversational skills are very basic. this is one of my next goals: to become fluent in Spanish.
  • I have also studied ancient languages and cultures - Ancient Greek Language and Latin – 4 years, in high school. My extensive knowledge of the Latin language helps me better support my students in their vocabulary acquisition in English and make connections with other Latin languages for my ESL students.
  • Although I have taught students 5th-12th grade throughout my career as a special education teacher, I believe that my skills and affinities are best utilized when working students in 8th and 9th grade. Something about this particular age being crucial in their further development as well-rounded human beings resonates with me, as an educator.
