  • Worked with ASA 5555s and migrating to Firepower FPR/FTDs, which was done as part of 'end of life' deployments. This included setting up failover environments.
  • Also configured BGP Autonomous Systems from private AZURE network into RRB infrastructure and also their EXPRESS Route network. This included allowing newly published Microsoft routes, which was maintained monthly.
  • Tasks that were delegated were the building of a new 'out of the box' Catalyst 9300 switch stacks. Was responsible for IOS upgrades across network on Catalyst 3650, 3750, and 3850 switches. Also worked on Nexus 9000 dual core switches with multiple VDCs.
  • ·Maintained the Cisco CVEs, network vulnerability reports, and recommended appropriate changes as necessary. to accommodate new vulnerabilities.
  • Responsibilities included configuring monitoring tools, Solar Winds and Cisco DNAC, which entailed setting up SNMP sites and polling OIDs, for graphing and charting. This included calculations for desired values..
  • Enhanced security by implementing firewalls, VPNs, and access control systems.

  • Analyzed and defined network requirements, optimization and support for projects. Supported the mobile key project as main network engineer. Responsible for VPN tunneling into hotel sites and overall success of server connectivity to corporate network
  • Main equipment supported were Cisco ASA 5585 firewalls as well as Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches. Was also responsible for supporting third party firewalls at site locations, which could include routers as well. Tools used were ASDM for Cisco support and troubleshooting, but main configuration done using CLI. Packet tracer and 'ping tcp' heavily used
  • Packet capturing and netstat type troubleshooting on Windows platforms also came into play. Firewalls which were implemented included Fortigate, Sonicwall, Watchguard, VBAND, SOPHOS, and Meraki, just to name a few. Very heavy VPN oriented work, with typical data delivery through various mediums. VRFs supported in core switching
  • Administered and prepared programs for IP addresses, developed network resources and trained support personnel to provide Tier 3 support to end users. Also supported many IT vendors in the field such as Velocity and Centrada
  • Implemented necessary controls and procedures to protect information system assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction. Documented all tunnels created, as well as supporting procedures for future reference

  • Supporting ADP worldwide operations and primary engineer for VPN network support which consisted of roughly 1000 VPN tunnels, both route-based and tunnel-based.
  • Was main support for client data center migrations, responsibility being their immediate payroll access at customer cutover. 
  • Devices used for payroll access were time clocks which entailed VPN connections, and allowed employees to 'punch' in and out. This was a highly critical need for client.
  • Was summoned in a team environment for daily client conference calls to resolve customer connection issues. This often required 24 hour support.
  • Maintained and configured Cisco 2600, 2800, 2900, and 7200 routers.
  • Also managed and configured Cisco Catalyst 2950, 4500, and 6500 core switches.
  • Managed Cisco ASA 5585 and FWSM firewalls. Also worked with Fortinet devices.
  • Supported routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP 
  • Supported infrastructure for database applications and servers. SQL connections to gateway servers and our Vantage network, again for payroll purposes.
  • Would review network traces for connectivity into Oracle databases as well as latency issues.  Network tracing was a very big part of responsibility.
  • Developed MRTG reporting tools using Perl.
  • Information gathered from switches and Cisco routers included bandwidth utilization, interface errors, memory usage, and other standard OID information.
