Started working for Syntiant after Knowles sold the microphone division. I brought along 21+ years of experience in Intellectual Property. Maintained a patent portfolio which incorporated licensed patent assets and legacy patent assets. Created systems to keep track of all newly filed patent assets with the newly formed company. Created a new numbering system for all patent assets in an effort to identify distinct qualities of a patent filing. I handled all aspects of a patent from invention creation (helped on creating an invention form to capture the idea) to the grant of the patent. I helped develop a patent reviewing process involving a patent committee. I also docketed the patent information in Excel forms until we were going to receive a patent database to input the information. I also handled the trademark portfolio, but mainly docketing and renewal work at Syntiant. I maintained a growing list of invoices associated with IP work until a billing system was put in place. As part of my new duties at Syntiant, I worked with non-disclosure agreement review and maintained a list of newly signed NDAs. I have recently reviewed several other agreement types ranging from supply agreements to sales agreements. I am very efficient in all Microsoft Office applications. I reported to both the IP Counsel and General Counsel.

Handled the docketing for patents and trademarks. Generated multiple docket reports monthly to analyze our portfolio. Assisted in the filing of patents and trademarks in various countries. Obtained the necessary signatures for many different documents the legal team needed. Assisted with many different types of agreements for the entire legal group (non-disclosure agreements, trademark license agreements, sale agreements, etc.). Worked closely with the Senior Vice President/General Counsel and Finance leads to keep track of and maintain the legal budget. I am very proficient in Legal Tracker for legal spend and was the lead administrator in the system. I worked with the IP team, division leads and finance to help keep track and maintain the legal division spend. In handling the budget responsibilities, I generate numerous reports a month to ensure spend is accurate. I also reviewed and approved all intellectual property related invoices. I have worked in many different legal systems in the past and I consider myself highly adaptable to fit the needs of my department. I worked with IP databases such as IPfolio, CPI and CPA Global. I used Cobblestone to input agreement information. I have utilized Innography for patent searching. I also have used Corsearch for trademark availability searching and watch notice reviewing. I have experience in some entity management and can utilize hCue effectively. I have some experience with domain name management. I am very proficient in all Microsoft office applications.

In addition to my duties of creating trademark files, abandoning and sending trademarks off-site, creating reports for various departments including marketing and tax groups, preliminary searching, reviewing full searches, filing US trademarks, sending instructions for filing foreign trademarks, docketing all trademark information, obtaining signatures for filing/registrations/renewals/assignments, handling the renewals and affidavits for the US and foreign, handling the office actions and/or coordinating with outside counsel on office actions for US and foreign, reviewing watch notices for Nalco (and soon Ecolab), pursuing oppositions, helping coordinate responses to oppositions with outside counsel and other various trademark tasks. I also review many pieces of literature/bulletins/videos for Nalco and Ecolab. Reviewing product bulletins, video scripts, videos, technical papers and ads.

Worked with the entire intellectual property portfolio including patents, trademarks and copyrights. Involved from the infancy stages of the entire patent portfolio from invention disclosure generation, to meeting approval, filing the patent, patent prosecution and patent grant. Involved in reward recognition for several inventors for patent filings and patent grants. Involved in trademark searching and clearance for newly generated trademarks. Used Corsearch for official searches. Handled the trademark filing, prosecution and registration of trademarks. I also handled all of the docketing for both patents and trademarks. Reviewed copyrighted materials such as brochures, bulletins and websites for appropriate use of IP mentioned assets (such as trademark proper usage). I was also the legal department supervisor for close to a year after my manager retired before Ecolab merged with Nalco.

Worked with all attorneys in docketing all patent and trademark related data within the CPI database. Reviewed granted patents for grammar and punctuation. Filed various patent and trademark paper documents in filing cabinets.
