Scaffolding at Exxon Mobil refinery with tube and clamp, toe board, plywood, power tools, the proper PPE and being 100% tied off being many feet above ground. This was my first job starting off in the union and although it was a short run because of less work, it was a great experience learning and working with really helpful people despite the harsher working conditions. I was always on time, getting along with everyone and gave it everything I got. I asked questions when I was unsure about something and was taught a lot of things throughout this experience.

Whenever supervisor was absent, I’d step up and come in early and/or stay late to send reports, make sure everything was swept and clean, and helped out in areas that needed my help. Whenever we had a team member absent, I’d come in 3 hours early and stay late if needed just to make sure we got the job finished, even if I had to pull 10+ hours. I rarely called off and was always on time and got along with everyone. I’m learned quickly on how to lead my team to produce quality product and when there was issues in the work environment, I was able to handle whatever I could without risk of escalation.
