GALESBURG

Summary

I'm a physics major deeply motivated by the potential of science to create sustainable, real-world impact. Currently engaged in research on the Mössbauer effect in iron oxide, I bring strong analytical skills, a curious mindset, and a hands-on approach to complex problems. My academic journey is fueled by a passion for renewable energy and a desire to contribute to clean, cutting-edge technologies. I'm now seeking internship opportunities where I can apply my research experience, expand my knowledge, and collaborate with forward-thinking teams driving the energy transition.

Work History

STUDENT RESEARCHER

Knox College, Physics Department
Galesburg
06.2025 - Current
  • Conducting research on the Mössbauer effect in iron oxide under Professors Mark Shroyer and Chuck Schulz, focusing on nuclear and magnetic properties.
  • Repaired and calibrated a helium leak detection device to ensure the vacuum integrity of the cryostat in the spectrometer for low-temperature measurements (down to 20 K).
  • Produced an instructional video to train future students on the operation and maintenance of the helium leak detection system.
  • Collected and analyzed Mössbauer spectra at varying temperatures using specialized software, investigating quadrupole splitting, magnetic hyperfine interactions, and spin-spin coupling.
  • Estimated the Néel temperature by studying the antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition, and performed spectral fitting to extract key hyperfine parameters, such as calibration and Vought values.
  • Applied institutional and scholarly research methodologies to advance the understanding of iron oxide’s electronic and magnetic structure.

APPRENTICE

MACRO Consortium
Galesburg
01.2025 - 05.2025
  • Participated in a specialized two-term independent study focused on B[e] stars, collaborating with Professor John Cannon from Macalester College and peers from both Knox and Macalester.
  • Conducted detailed analysis of RLMT grism spectra from the MACRO science program to interpret astrophysical data and quantify variability in B[e] star systems.
  • Engaged deeply with primary astrophysical literature to inform data interpretation and research direction.
  • Worked collaboratively in a multi-institutional team environment to investigate stellar phenomena and contribute findings aimed at peer-reviewed publication.
  • Developed skills in institutional research, astronomical data analysis, Python programming, and team leadership.

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING INTERN

Palgurus
Bangalore
06.2024 - 09.2024
  • As a Social Media Marketing Intern at Palgurus, a mental wellness startup in India, I created dynamic reels and carousel posts to promote mental health awareness and wellness. I also led content initiatives for key occasions, including Independence Day and Friendship Day, to encourage meaningful conversations about well-being within our community.

STUDENT RESEARCHER

Knox College, Physics Department
Galesburg
06.2024 - 08.2024
  • Conducted summer research under Professor Thomas Moses on phase transitions in liquid crystals using hyperfine temperature measurements.
  • Designed and assembled a thermistor-based microcontroller system with an Arduino for precise temperature control.
  • Programmed and optimized a PID control algorithm in the Arduino IDE to maintain target temperature stability..
  • Developed advanced resistance and voltage measurement techniques for accurate thermistor calibration (precision up to 3 decimal places).
  • Enabled study of subtle phase changes in liquid crystals through stable, fine-tuned temperature control.
  • Utilized Arduino, electronics, Python, and institutional research methods to create a robust temperature microcontroller.
