Farmer City

Summary

Highly motivated, hardworking, confident, and professional individual who is well respected by my peers and community. I am passionate about being a leader and have excellent communication, managerial, and interpersonal skills. I have demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout my law enforcement career in the departments that I have worked for and the communities that I have served. I have volunteered in every community that I have worked for, and I feel that it's a crucial part of policing to be involved in community organizations and to attend community events.

I believe that the police and the people of a community are a team that must work together to solve issues. I also strongly believe in the use of emotional intelligence and empathy to solve problems in both the department and the community. I am the type of individual that enjoys taking on new tasks, assignments, or challenges that are brought to me and encourage the same from my team. I am a servant leader who leads by example and strongly believes in building up my team members.

I accomplish this by constantly giving them assignments and tasks to complete that are above their skill level while coaching them through the process. I have mentored and coached many officers over my 27-year career and have enjoyed watching their careers flourish. I believe in the use of progressive discipline when coaching and mentoring fail to work, as well as the importance of teaching that taking personal responsibility for one's actions is an important step in growing an individual's career.

I have the strong leadership abilities, managerial skills, customer service skills, work ethic, values, and strong personality that your organization is looking for.

I have advanced investigations skills and believe in the philosophy that patrol officers should investigate cases and conduct all follow up prior to forwarding cases to an investigator. This philosophy along with basic investigate training creates better patrol officers and gives them a sense of pride and vested interest in solving the case. I have handled and supervised the following types of cases: Civil cases, death investigations, traffic accidents, train accidents, bank robberies, shootings, sex cases, child abuse & neglect, fraud, elder abuse, domestic disputes, sex offender violations, armed robberies, burglaries, stolen vehicles, assaults, officer complaints, worker comp accidents, harassment, bomb threats, etc.

I have advanced labor management skills, contract negotiation skills, and employee discipline skills. I have held every office in the Fraternal Order of Police, negotiated numerous contracts, worked to resolve many employee grievances, attended labor management meetings, attended employee disciplinary hearings, and had to discipline many employees after coaching and mentoring failed. I have negotiated for the city side of contract issues and have resolved numerous disputes and contract issues preventing them from becoming larges issues that normally would have led to mediation or arbitration issues.

I have successfully written grants for both the public and private sector, .I have extensive budgetary experience's both the public and private sector. I have been the secretary and president of numerous fraternal clubs that had civilian employees, bar, bowling alley, dining room, building maintenance. I have completed990 forms, handled IRS issues, conducted financial audits, headed fundraisers, and handled many disputes between organization members and employees. I have demonstrated the ability in both the public and private sector of finding or negotiating deals on equipment and allocating resources to stretch the budget.
