Perform nursing duties within the Health Care Unit to include: physical assessments of newly detained or transferred individuals; evaluate individuals whom present for nurse sick call and treat with OTC remedies and/or refer to physician for further care; administer prescribed medications; apply bandages and surgical dressings; provide first aid and emergency care; reporting of medication reactions; monitor and report changes in emotional or physical condition; assist physician with medical treatments; obtain blood samples, stool samples, and various other specimens for diagnostic testing.

In a work from home setting, review documentation for medical care provided including hospitalizations, diagnostic testing and procedures, corrective surgical procedures, imaging, preventative care, and various medical treatments against corporate medical policy to determine medical necessity and approval or denial for coverage and payment; review documentation and determine pricing for services provided; work closely with medical review team and medical directors in order to maintain efficient medical review processes in the rapidly changing medical arena.

In the primary office care setting, assist physician with patient care and in-office procedures; handle patient telephone inquiries for Family Practice and Internal Medicine patients; make referrals to specialty providers and schedule diagnostic testing; contact health insurance companies in order to obtain authorization for diagnostic testing, medical treatments, and medical procedures; work with the primary care float pool as needed in order to provide staffing coverage for all providers within the Family Practice and Internal Medicine departments.

Interview WIC clients and distribute WIC food instruments; case management of WIC clients including home visits for monitoring of nutrition, safety, and help provide direction for obtaining resources of basic needs; administer immunizations; assist physician with well child physicals; follow APORS clients as assigned following infant discharge from NICU.

In a critical care pulmonary office setting, provide patient care for 6 physicians on a rotating basis. Duties include starting IV drips containing aminophylline and solu-medrol for patients in respiratory distress; administer intramuscular injections of corticosteroid and various other prophylactic and therapeutic medications; administer nebulizer treatments; perform pulmonary function testing; perform methacholine challenge testing for asthma diagnosis; perform allergy skin testing; administer monthly allergy injections; draw blood for various lab tests as ordered; medication refills; handle telephone inquiries; assist physicians with weekend hospital rounding as needed.
