Professional Vision & Objective: More recently I've been interested in finding a remote position where I can work from home as I'm naturally a driven, organized, and independent person. Given my current personal situation and strengths, I truly believe I would thrive in case management, care coordination, Medical review, utilization review, and other documentation based positions as I've always excelled in school when it came to documentation, care plans, and paperwork; received positive feedback and multiple requests from patients yet a little socially awkward with coworkers in a clinical setting. However, since working with patients comes naturally, and I find communicating appropriately electronically much easier than navigating the often catty world of nursing units, a position where I can still interact with patients or other healthcare providers in a limited context and place a great deal of attention into the logistical aspects of my assignments would allow me to put my best foot forward in every area while I continue to work through my personal weaknesses. Remote or hybrid positions would allow me the opportunity to capitalize on and hi-light my strengths while continuing to learn and gain experience while minimizing the negative effects of my weaknesses on others yet still afford limited opportunities for me to work on those weaknesses.
To transition from a psychiatric registered nurse in community mental health to a doctorally prepared advanced nurse practitioner who works with clients and colleagues alike to ensure holistic care is provided to one of the most vulnerable populations. I hope to serve in a way that reaches those with no voice- learn about their mental illnesses, medication options, therapy opportunities, and to take control of their recoveries mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically by offering supportive listening to the individual’s needs, engaging families and collaborating with other healthcare professionals wherever possible to facilitate support in every area of their lives. I will also strive to serve those clients with substance use disorders in need of medication assisted treatment, especially those with dual diagnoses, to achieve their goals of abstinence and become productive members of society. I hope to inspire others by emulating authenticity, grace, humility, and integrity in all of my interactions personally and professionally as I seek to contribute to the field of psychiatry by bringing innovative evidenced based practice changes with the assistance of a network of other psychiatric nurse practitioners through local, state, and national organizations. Furthermore, my vision is to be a leader who will advocate for better mental health care that reaches beyond the office to support case management needs, and raise awareness of about mental illness stigma, homelessness, substance use disorders, overdose, suicide prevention, obesity and its link to antipsychotic medications, housing and vocational opportunities. I will do this by collaborating with not only other healthcare professionals but within the community, local government, local churches, police department, and the legal system. All of this will capitalize on my strengths of striving, empathy, emotional understanding, emotional integration, problem solving, adaptability, and a positive mindset that believes each and every individual has value and deserves the best care to achieve optimal wellness.
