I believe my experiences would serve me well in whatever position I choose to accept. I work well with a team or on my own. I pay attention to detail. I have worked in areas that have all the nursing amenities and those where we had to be creative to solve problems.
The most applicable position I have held is in Pediatric Home Care. For the past 2 years I have been caring for a now 3 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy in his home where he lives with his mom, grandparents and 11 year old sister.
I have learned about all of his specific medical needs and now educational and social needs as I accompany him to preschool.
I perform daily medical assessments, with a focus on neurological, GI, musculoskeletal and respiratory systems.
I document assessments hourly along with V/S.
I administer his ketogenic formula via Gtube as well as provide oral pleasure foods while monitoring delayed swallowing.
I provide Gtube assessments and care.
I administer medications per Gtube and subligually and monitor for side effects and effectivness.
I provide assist with all transfers and mobility as he is wheelchair bound.
I provide scheduled therapies such as PROM, AFO administration, Stander Placement, Hand Splints, Eye Gaze Device utilization, Play and Music therapy.
I provide all hygiene needs and diaper changes as he is incontinent.
I accompany him to therapy and provider appointments with his mother. I organize his travel supplies.
I work closely with his family and school staff to communicate his condition and needs.
While I have had years of various clinical and personal healthcare experience and education other than pediatrics, I believe it has all served me well to meet the challenges of this position.
