Kamryn Mixson

After completing the required number of credit hours, I applied for my part-time subbing license in Illinois. Since receiving my license, I have subbed for the Shiloh Elementary School District when available. I have worked with grade levels preschool to eighth grade. Through this job, I have gained experience in the education field and had the opportunity to lead a class on my own. Also, I have a better grasp of what each grade level feels like and how to work with varying students.

Student taught in a fifth grade classroom for five weeks. Created/executed social studies lesson plans and managed classroom behavior while building student relationships.

As a tutor through the Illinois Tutoring Initiative, I worked one-on-one with students in grades 4-8. In small groups of 3-4, I would meet with students three times a week for an hour to work on math, reading, or social emotional skills. Students' work would be aligned to their needs and gave me the opportunity to create fun engaging lessons.

During my time at Kumon, I worked with students from grades K-5. As students worked, I helped guide them through their reading and math assignments. From helping children learn to count to solving algebraic equations, I worked with a large variety of age levels.
