- My duties as Construction Laborer were doing some basement waterproofing work and follow my foreman directions.
- When fixing up crack foundations, I cut the drywall (If necessary), add some epoxy wait until it dries up and add some injector to the plastic tube, and then finally put the caps back on the tube.
- When fixing on Drain tile work, I do the jackhammering, put some old concrete and dirt into the bucket, load it back to the truck, level the pipe, add the sock to the pipe, install the basin for the sump pump, connect the PVC to the sump pump, drill a hole to insert the PVC outside, while outside I take out the sod, start digging, install the pipe, install the basin drainage, connect a pipe between the yard pipe and the PVC from the sump pump, put back the dirt and the sod after doing the yard drainage work, add some gravel to the pipe inside the drain tile pipe, add the dimpled black plastic sheet, mix concrete by hand, and finally finish and smooth the concrete.
- When doing Yard drainage work, I first take out the sod, start digging the dirt, add the pipe, replace the downspout filter to a new one, add the basin drainage, and finally put back the sod and the dirt back.
- When doing Encapsulation crawl space, get rid of any garbage and rusted things, fix some cracks (If necessary), add some silicone around the crawl space, add some insulation in the wall, drill the insulation, nail it with a hammer, add the black plastic sheet on the floor, add somesilicone around the crawl space again, add some liners both the floor and wall, tape any openings in the liners, and finally torch it on the tape to dry it up.
- Drain tile, Yard drainage, Encapsulation, and fixing cracks is one the most common type of waterproofing work.
- In rare occasions, we do other waterproofing related type of work.
- Waterproofing is easy work mentally, but it can be physically exhausting because requires constant digging and lifting work.
- I would recommend anyone doing waterproofing to build some experience and even for people who don't have any construction experience.
- As long you're punctual, persistent, have a good attitude, and enthusiastic they will train you.
