Work History

Engineering Team Leader

Caterpillar
09.2020 - Current
  • Led a global team of engineers in the development and maintenance of Medium Tractors Light Structures designs and processes.
  • Consistently met aggressive quality, cost, and time targets for multiple NPI, and NSI programs.
  • Led collaboration efforts with teams from four different Caterpillar manufacturing facilities, and a global supplier base.
  • Improved the team’s tools and processes by creating an MTP-specific Light Structures Design Guide collection, helping develop the MTP BIQ/BPCA review process, and revamping the Kanban and maintenance workload tracking process, among others.
  • I’ve mentored and helped develop a new group of light structures engineers at our Engineering Design Center in India, and have integrated the Grenoble Light Structures team into a global MTP Light Structures team, with shared tools and processes.

Light Structures Technical Expert

Caterpillar
02.2019 - 08.2020
  • Expanded the technical capabilities of the Earthmoving Light Structures design and analysis teams by providing technical advice during formal and informal reviews, working one-on-one with engineers, and developing and sharing training material.
  • I've established forums for collaboration and knowledge sharing across Light Structures design and analysis teams; these include regular team leader meetings, collaboration sessions between design and analysis teams, and SharePoint and Yammer communities.
  • I have served as a technical representative of the Earthmoving Light Structures team on several teams, ranging from the Earthmoving ICT, the corporate Machine Simulation Steering team, the corporate Light Structures Tech community, and the Light Structures COE team.
  • I've led efforts to develop several VPD MGPPs that will serve as a road map to achieve the division’s goal of increased reliance on virtual validation.

Sr. Engineer – Analysis Lead

Caterpillar
05.2013 - 01.2019
  • Oversaw and ensured completion of all virtual validation activities for Medium Tractors Light Structures team.
  • Delivered compliant light structure designs meeting life and stress specifications within set timelines.
  • I was responsible for training design engineers on the use of multiple FEA tools.
  • Managed communication channels for test coordination of light structures during all design phases.
  • Led the corporate Light Structures Analysis Center of Excellence (COE) team.

Design Engineer

Caterpillar
03.2012 - 05.2013
  • I had design responsibility for all D8R iROPS light structures systems.
  • Met established targets for time, durability, and cost on pilot design releases.
  • Led collaboration efforts with the manufacturing team at CAT Brazil.
  • Coordinated all FEA activities and completed gage maps needed for the OMSA and shake table tests.

Design Engineer

Caterpillar
09.2006 - 03.2012
  • I was responsible for the design and analysis of the D6T and D7R Track Roller Frames (TRF).
  • I designed a new D6E TRF concept, which utilized an improved structure and a dry recoil mechanism, resulting in a significant cost reduction.
  • Led the CPPD team for D6T and D7R TRFs, which included teams from four different manufacturing facilities.
  • Designed tie-down provisions for the D7R military tractor.
  • Performed FEA on major design changes using Pro/Mechanica and FeSafe, ensuring durability and performance validation.

Associate Engineer

Caterpillar
06.2005 - 09.2006
  • Completed a 5-month rotation learning TTT TRF design, where I gained experience in large structures design and modeling, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and obtained my Six Sigma green belt.
  • Completed a 3-month analysis rotation at the Champaign Simulation Center, focusing on FEA through the use of IDEAS analysis software.
  • Completed a 3-month test rotation, focusing on lab testing of undercarriage components. I designed a test fixture for track pin galling evaluation.
  • I completed a manufacturing rotation in Building LL, with a focus on welding and machining large structures, as well as assisting the building's CMM operator.

Engineer Intern

U.S. Corps of Engineers
05.2004 - 08.2004
  • In this role, I aided in the design and maintenance of large air handling units for buildings at both Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood.
  • A small part of the job also included the supervision of housing construction at the base.
