Five Chicago Police Department Commendations, Crime Reduction Ribbons for 2001,2004,2009

The Department Commendations consist of supervisors acknowledgements apprehension of suspects during a crime that had just occurred, an apprehension of a criminal in the act of committing a crime or and apprehension of a criminal after a follow up investigation.


Twelve Honorable Mentions, Two Department Commendations Crime Reduction Ribbons for 2001,2004,2009

The Honorable mentions are recognitions from supervisors that signifies commendable actions in the process of a police officers duties that has gone beyond the standard expectations.  

The first commendation was awarded for apprehending a homicide offender after killing his brother. 

The second commendation was for apprehending a robbery offender while committing a robbery of a currency exchange 

Crime reduction ribbons are issued to recognize the officer and department's members for a reduction in violent crimes
