David Johnson

I am a dynamic and results-driven professional with extensive experience as a Professional Firefighter here at Elk Grove Village. I care deeply about the people I work with and remain proactive in attempting to help everyone stay as happy and healthy as possible through the efforts of the Wellness Team. I do not shy away from a challenge and I enjoy being part of the solution in any task I put my efforts towards. I am a curious mind and continually aim to lead by example to improve my craft. I have substantial experience in customer service, as this has been the core of every job I have ever held. Representing EGVFD to the public is something I take tremendous pride in. I am excited for the next chapter in my career in taking an official role as Lieutenant. In doing so I aim to lead by example while leading any crew in accordance with the core values of the Elk Grove Village Fire Department.

Foreign Fire Insurance Board (2024-present)

• Elected to my second term January 2026

Inspectional Services Division(2015-2016)

• Lead the effort to modernize our ISD by bringing digitized field inspections and record keeping to ISD.
• Introduced Brycer, the Compliance Engine streamlining the compliance of all fire and sprinkler systems maintenance throughout North America's largest industrial park.

SOG Committee (2015-2023)

• Received a challenge coin for work on digitizing and organizing SOGs.

Public Education Committee (2015-present)

• CPR instructor (2015-present)
• Teach to the public multiple times/year, including EGHS

Training Committee (2017-Present)

• Have helped create fireground drills
• Lead the purchase and built the skills to create simulations in Fire Studio 7, our digital fire simulation software.

Wellness Team Leader (2024-present)

• Occupational Pillar lead (2022-2024)
• Brought programs to EGVFD such as skin cancer screenings, full body ultrasound screenings
• Create and execute competitions such as Miles For Mark, and EGVFD'S Journey to Wellness

Water Rescue (2012-present)

• Fully certified open water and ice diver (2012-2018)
• Swift Water Technician (2017- present)
• SONAR Technician (2016-present)
• Current Member of Cook County deployment team for SONAR

Acting Lieutenant (2024-present)

• Have commanded crews on fire scenes, car accidents, EMS calls, etc
