Serving at Tapa la Luna was a very engaging experience. My responsibilities included a mixture of hosting, serving, bussing, expediting, and maintaining the dish pit, as well as taking to-go orders. This was only possible because the entire crew worked as a team, where we would all help each other clear tables, seat new customers, etc. Working within a team is something I am very good at, especially in high-pressure situations. I know that I am expected to bring the most value possible every time I clock in, and I believe that starts with a good attitude and a positive mindset. I also believe in doing my job thoroughly, to the best of my ability. I am a quick learner, and I have very good customer service skills. All in all, it's important for me to do my job well and to support those around me as best I can.
I've also taken on all the roles of everything from opening to closing. Responsibilities included sweeping, mopping, taking out garbage, preparing special sheets for the menus, taking down and organizing reservations, prepping workstations, opening and closing the dish pit, etc. Because I was so involved at Tapa la Luna, I also became close with the chefs, bartenders, and managers, and would help them in any way that I could. This gained me a lot of respect from my peers and allowed me to grow some connections that I still have, even after I left to continue my journey toward my Master's degree.
Customer service is of utmost importance to me. At Tapa la Luna, it was not uncommon for customers to request me as their server. We value repeat customers, and that only comes with a positive experience. This is something I always provide to all my customers, not only because it's good for business, but also because it comes very naturally to me.
