As a dispatcher at Wheaton College Public Safety, I had to learn how to fulfill my role largely on the job. This required familiarizing myself not only with the principle tasks of my job but also a multitude of other services provided by Public Safety. This experience trained me to respond quickly and creatively to new situations, as well as communicate effectively with both callers and the officers when resolving issues.
I am currently the secretary of the Wheaton College Men's Glee Club. This role has developed organizational and communication skills as I record the details of the club's cabinet meetings, as well as writing the quarterly alumni newsletter and editing the club's newspaper.
